My friend Steph Lord has now started making felt shoes and they are available to buy via this site.
Here’s a picture of a pair of Steph’s felt shoes. There are a number of colour options available.

A pair of these shoes will cost you £30 and you can place your order with Steph by emailing here at;

Lavenham Army Surplus currently have a limited supply of these Grade 1 Special Forces “Self Sealing” Basha’s, priced £45 plus P&P.

This may look like any other basha but if pierced by a thorn or twig the material can be manipulated between the fingers to repair itself. This is an amazing bit of kit and I shall be writing about this in more detail soon.
tks for the effort you put in here I appreciate it!
Thank you for your comment Michaella.
Dear Fenlander,
I am looking for help on making a plan to move to Canadian wilderness. I am an over 60 female, so I will need to use construction/building/maintenance techniques to fit my physical abilities. My plan includes so far ideas. Like all propane appliances. I would like a propane capable wood stove. I will need a root cellar for the winter, will there be a problem with bears invading that if I have canned jams etc in there? I would like to also keep chickens and thought that a large cage of steel pipe outside the actual chicken area would help keep wolves and coyotes away; is it all right to have evergreens in the chicken area? Any ideas or building/maintenance suggestions would be great. I know I will need a travois of some sort to haul water.
Thanks again,
Lynn
Hi there Lynn,
Living in the UK/Lapland I do not really think I can provide a great deal of advice. I have no experience of propane as I only use wood and oil for light. My suggestion would be to locate your home near to a spring or stream to provide water without the need for too much manual labour. Chickens love greens and you could also give them your vegetable peelings and waste.
