I have never been fortunate enough to find a location where Capercaillie display, but while out searching last Sunday, I found a single male displaying.
If you have never seen Capercaillie display, search on YouTube as there are several clips to watch.
It was already getting dark when I located this bird so unfortunately I could not get any good quality images.
I did manage to get a nice photo of two females standing by the side of the though.
It is a little early in the season for Capercaillie to be displaying but hopefully over the next couple of weeks I will find more.
My family have been at me cabin for a week over Easter but unfortunately I was not well enough to go with them. Really disappointed because they had a Bear visiting the cabin each night and I could have got some nice pictures!!
I spent Easter at home, but did get out to do a bit of ice fishing, though I caught nothing!!
It was really warm in the sunshine, but there was a cold north wind blowing
Of course I made fire to cook coffee
and grill sausage
During the weekend I saw the first Common Cranes of the year, Rough-legged Buzzard and Pine Grosbeak.
The new contract mobile phone I have received (A Samsung Galaxy Express 2) has NFC – Near Field Communication, as does my Panasonic TZ40 camera. By touching the two devices together I can then operate my camera remotely via my telephone. In the picture below you can see my camera out on the snow
Sitting in my car I can then see on my telephone, what my camera is seeing and using the Panasonic Image App I can fully control the camera via my telephone.
Here are the end results of some pictures I took of Snow Buntings..
I tried making my own crisp bread last weekend and the end result was very pleasing.
The ingredients are as follows;
2dl maze flour
1/2dl sesame seads
3/4dl sunflower seeds
1/4dl pumpkin seeds
1/2dl olive oil
2 1/2dl boiled water
First put all the dry ingredients into a bowl and mix thoroughly
Add the boiled water and mix into a paste and spread over greaseproof paper in a baking tray. Score with a knife to make it easier to divide into pieces once cooked and sprinkle a little salt over .
Place in the oven (pre-heated to 150 degrees) and leave for about one hour, until the mixture has hardened. Remove and allow to cool.
I had a bad cold all last week, but on Saturday morning I went fishing with my neighbours again.
I didn’t catch any fish again!
Still wasn’t feeling 100% and had pain in my stomach all day. It turned out to be a stomach bug and I spent the next 36 hours with diarrhoea and sickness. Now I also have a lung infection, but hoping I will be feeling better soon. Spring is here in Lapland and I really don’t want to miss it!!
