Coffee bags

Last weekend I was away fishing again, but didn’t have so much luck this time. However my friend Tommy did, catching two Grayling that were over 1 kilo each.

It was a warm weekend and we were able to stay out late into the evenings by the fire.

I now have covid and am not allowed to work, so I am making some coffee bags from reindeer leather.

The leaves on the trees have now changed to their autumn colours and after a couple of nights of frosts, they are falling fast.

Common Crane family

There has been a Common Crane family feeding at the side of the road when I travel to and from work every morning.

Last weekend I was fishing with a friend and caught 39 Arctic Grayling. Two of them were attacked and eaten by Pike near the boat.

We are still enjoying fresh vegetables from the garden.

We have also collected blueberries and Kelly baked a blueberry pie.

New potatoes

We planted 12 potatoes in June and have now been rewarded with a bucket full of new potatoes. Some we have boiled and some we have fried in butter.

We have spent quite a bit of time fishing. I bought Kelly a fly fishing rod and she caught her first fish, a Grayling.

We have also caught some nice Perch, up to a kilo in weight.

I have now put a metal roof on the small cabin that we have in the garden here.

We have had a lot of Common Cranes migrating over the house recently.

And a Black Kite

It gets dark at about 9:30 now and the leaves are changing color on the trees.

The cabin is sold.

The cabin is now sold but unfortunately I didn’t get as much money as I was hoping that I would get.

I’ve been out collecting Cloud berries but unfortunately the areas where I usually collect have been very poor this year.

Myself and Kelly have been in Finland for a few days. Kelly wanted to visit Father Christmas again and visit a husky Farm.

We also bought a second hand fly fishing rod which Kelly is practicing with.

We have been having problems getting the tomatoes to ripen

Someone advised me to cut off the leaves, shoots and flowers which encourages the plant to concentrate on the fruit, and this seems to work.

We have not seen the fox cubs anymore since my last post.

Fox cubs

I have had two different Fox Cubs visiting the garden recently.

One of which has a white leg.

How’s Friday evening myself and Kelly went fishing and she caught two Arctic char.

One of which we cooked directly over the fire.

Fox

The Fox is still visiting my garden and now has three small cubs, but they do not show themselves.

I spent last weekend fishing for Arctic Char. They were not feeding from the surface, so I couldn’t try my flies. Instead I used a Carolina rig, with Power air, on the bottom of the lake and caught 17 fish.

Sorry it has been so long.

I changed my telephone and I’ve been unable to access my account, so I could not post anything.

The weather has been very warm recently. Last weekend I went fishing with friends. When I arrived there on Friday it was 26 degrees but when I left on Sunday the temperature had dropped to 3 degrees with a little snow.

On Friday evening we did catch seven Arctic Grayling, all of which were over 1 kilo.

On Sunday night we had a frost which is damaged my potato plants.

This evening I have been tying flies ready for my next fishing trip.

Thanks Sasquatch tracker

Thanks Sasquatch tracker, for pointing out that I hadn’t written about selling my cabin.

Me and my wife have separated and are getting divorced. I want to keep the house so that I have somewhere to live and have my daughter to stay. Property isn’t easy to find here, and because of that, people pay ridiculous prices for houses, so it would be difficult to find something else

Unfortunately, this means that I am  going to have to sell the cabin in order to pay my wife for her share of the house, and I cannot afford to maintain both a house and the cabin.

Having my daughter to stay with me means that it is just not realistic to live at the cabin during the winter when she has to go to school each day and wants to be with friends.

So if anyone would like to buy my cabin, it is available for purchase now.

I’ll again.

Both myself and Kelly have been I’ll three more times during the last month.

I have managed a couple of visits to the cabin to begin emptying it before I advertise it for sale.

I also had a day out with friends birdwatching.

While we have been home this week, Kelly tried making rhubarb ice cream. Which was a great success 🙌

Hopefully, we can get out and about again soon.

Ice break up

The ice has now broken up on the rivers

Although the majority of lakes are still iced over.

There are varying amounts of snow in the forest.

I found a spot in the forest where a Capercaillie had been sleeping during the winter.

The Birch buds have started opening, so I am collecting Birch sap.

I love having a twig stove with me so that I can make a little fire and make coffee.
